This post has been so much fun to write! It's been amazing to look back and reflect back into my memories to uncover all of my joy and fulfillment! It is so uplifting and attend births in the home environment. Being present in a familiar and supportive environment, both for the mother and the midwife allows for a beautiful connection to form. This connection fosters a sense of trust and empowerment, setting the stage for a positive and memorable birth experience.

I also cherish the opportunity to provide personalised care during birth. Unlike the frantic energy in the hospital, the initiate nature of homebirth allows me to dedicate all of my attention to my client. Private midwives can create meaningful relationships built on trust, respect and partnership. Witnessing the growth and strength of expectant parents throughout this journey is so, so satisfying.

Homebirths in Australia also cultivate an environment of community support and togetherness. Private midwives play a crucial role in collaborating with other health professionals, doulas, lactation consultants and family members. We love building this network, ensuring mums and dads receive holistic, comprehensive care throughout their childbearing journey. The sense of camaraderie and shared responsibility leaves midwives feeling a deep sense of fulfillment.

Private midwives also know the homebirths can be transformative. Homebirth allows women and families to take charge of their birthing journey, paving the way for informed decision making, autonomy and self knowledge and trust. Seeing parents tap into their inner knowing and bravely navigate the various stages of labour and parenting, makes me feel an intense joy, as I get to witness the miracle of life unfold in a natural and loving environment.
